Meet the Head of School

Mr. Bryant Black, Head of School for Lakeland Christian School

The 2024-2025 school year marks the second year of Mr. Black’s tenure as Head of School.  A native of North Carolina and a graduate of Vanderbilt University and Covenant College, Mr. Black began his career in  education in 1995 as a History teacher at Chattanooga Christian School (CCS) following four years of service in the United States Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer onboard USS Aubrey Fitch (FFG-34).

His tenure at CCS included service as the Upper School Head, History Department Chair, and Director of Curriculum and Instruction as well as coaching in the men’s and women’s soccer programs.

Joining the ranks of the LCS faculty in 2021 as a government, economics, and Bible teacher, Mr. Black served as the Director of Academics in 2022-23 before transitioning to Head of School in June 2023. If you find yourself in a conversation with Mr. Black in respect to the distinctive Christian education at LCS, you will most certainly hear is vision and passion for students learning the “truth” that is Jesus Christ across the academic disciplines in our classrooms and experiencing the “way” and the “life” that is Jesus Christ in our community.

Mr. Black has been married 32 years to his lovely wife Ashley. They have three sons, all graduates of the University of Tennessee.

When not at LCS, Mr. and Mrs. Black love to spend time in the mountains or by the sea, particularly if any of their family are present. They attend Trinity Presbyterian in downtown Lakeland.
